To prepare cath lab 03 for new medical imaging equipment, the scope included installing a new cooling system for the equipment room, new active gas scavenging ran from an adjacent building, new electrical panels to accommodate project requirements and the shutdown coordination of UPS panels. Radiation lead shielding were also upgraded including new lead lined doors, lead equivalent glass, and sheet lead within walls. Design changes were required to accommodate site conditions, so project schedule was accelerated in order to meet the equipment delivery date. Working in the interstitial space at VGH, CDC coordinated with the Facilities staff to schedule work, limiting disturbance to those immediately above and below the site. Since Cath lab 03 was adjacent to other cath labs and a surgical daycare, the highest level of Infection Control procedures were implemented.
